Reading:
In Reading our focus this week was a continuation poetry. The students have learned all about lines and stanzas, as well as how to properly read a poem. Next week we will spend some time looking at character's points of view. Students will be learning how to find words that characters say and think to figure out how they feel about what is going on in the text. No Spelling list next week!
Math:
This past week we finally completed our study of fractions. Check your child's Friday Folder to see how they did on the end of Unit assessment. Towards the end of last week, we moved into our last major unit: measurement. We will begin by measuring elapsed time. Students will be using number lines to find either the start time of an event, the end time of the event, or how much time the event lasted for.

Science/Social Studies:
This past week we began our unit on Matter. The final area of matter we will learning about involves changing the states of matter. The students will be learning about heat transfer and how that is connected to such changes as boiling, freezing, and melting. Next week, in our plant unit, we will learning about the different parts of the plants and what roles each part plays in the development of the plant.
