News and Notes Around the Classroom - (Updated - April 26
Friday Stamina Reads:
EOG's are right around the corner and it is time to begin to prepare the students for what is to come. One of the most difficult parts of the EOG's for third graders is the amount of time it will take to complete the test. Most Students should be spending around 2 hours to complete each section of the test. In addition, they will be going 45 to 50 minutes at a time without a break during the test. So, endurance and stamina are extremely important to build up. To help students build up their stamina, we will be having Stamina Reading time each Friday. This coming week our students will be up to 38 minutes. My hope is that students will not become fatigued on the day of the test. Please make sure that your student has a couple of great books they are interested to read each Friday.
A Couple of Safety Reminders from Admin:
SAFETY MESSAGING FOR FAMILIES.
Safety is our highest priority during morning arrival and afternoon departure. Please be reminded of the following when dropping off and picking up your child:
Pre-K and Walkers:
Please do not park on Andrews Store Road or block the entrance to the fire lane/back access road.
All students should be escorted to and from the walker door by an adult. They should not be allowed to run nor walk to or from the road on their own.
For safety reasons, students should not run or play in the ditches adjacent to Andrews Store Road.
All pedestrian traffic crossing Andrews Store Road should be through the crosswalk.
Pets should not be brought to campus.
Car Riders:
Car riders should only be dropped off in the designated area supervised by CGE staff. They should not be dropped off in the parking lot or at Andrews Store Road.
Please do not pass another vehicle in the carpool lane unless directed to do so by a CGE staff member.
Please move as far forward in the carpool lane as possible.
Students arriving after 7:55 am should be walked into the building by a parent unless otherwise directed by a CGE staff member.
In addition, please park your vehicle in an established parking space if you will be inside the building longer than 5 to 10 minutes. We need to keep the carpool area/front fire lane clear in the event of an emergency.
Thank you for your help in ensuring that we keep our campus and students safe.
LUNCH DATES
Parents joining their children for lunch will need to do so at a separate table. This gives the parents privacy with their student and assists us with monitoring the parent interactions with other students during their time on campus.
Mystery Reader Procedure Change:
Thank you so much to everyone who has already volunteered to come in and read to us. The students and I look so forward to it. Due to a school rule going forward, the office is asking that Mystery Readers do not come to the office before 8:15. They are just so overwhelmed at the beginning of the day.
Dates to Remember:
April 29 - No School - Teacher Workday
